It could be an inter-species first… A MEERKAT will be judging the Dogs and Cats at the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home’s (EDCH) upcoming ‘Community Day’ on Sunday 6th September. Heidi Carroll, our founding MEERKAT and long-term supporter of EDCH, has been asked to judge some of the fun-filled competitions at this annual 4Legged extravaganza.
Heidi is relishing pulling out her clipboard and inspection glasses to rootle out the winning canines. The competitions will include waggliest tail, scruffiest dog, handsomest boy, prettiest girl, as well as the highly anticipated ‘best sausage catch’. Although it has to be said that the MEERKAT team – who will be watching and cheering on the contenders – are more used to ‘scorpion catching’.
And, while dogs enjoy Community Day in person, cats will be delighted to hear that they can also take part from the comfort of their armchairs. The Virtual Cat Competitions encourage cats’ housekeepers to send in pics of their feline friends for the cutest or funniest cat competitions.
Do you fancy being surrounded by more 4Leggeds than humans, showing off your pup in one of the fun competitions, learning expert animal-care tips, exploring the stalls, food vendors, and Kids’ Corner, and maybe putting your dog’s self-control to the test in the devilishly difficult ‘Temptation Alley’?
Come and join in the fun in the big paddock at Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home from 11am-3pm on Sunday 6th September for what could be the MEERKATs’ – and your dog’s – favourite ever day out!
